Implementation of the e-CRVS system in Nigeria

FACT is partnering with New Digital Legacy on eCRVS implementation in Nigeria.  The eCRVS implementation project is the first phase of the digital transformation of CRVS in Nigeria. The program is being implemented by the National Population Commission with the support of UNICEF and aims to strengthen the CRVS systems in Nigeria, by creating digitally enabled and effective service delivery models that will extend access to registration to even the remotest areas and by using data exchange standards so that civil registration data are secure yet interoperable with other government systems in Nigeria, all in a cost effective manner.

The eCRVS Implementation Project has the following high-level objectives:

  • Identify effective SOPs and associated change management for digitised birth registration service delivery, suitable for scaling across 774 LGAs in Nigeria.
  • Measure significant improvements in birth registration completeness rates (within legally stipulated period and < 1 year of birth) and use as evidence for the investment case for scale.
  • Measure the cost-effectiveness of digitised birth registration service delivery and use as evidence for the investment case for scale.

Enhancing displacement and mobility needs tracking, inter-sectorial needs assessment and monitoring displaced populations in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe (States, North-east Nigeria and improving communication with communities.

FACT, in coordination with the IOM-DTM, will carry out Inter-Sector Needs Assessment (Once a year), Needs Assessment – integrated into IOM Mobility Tracking (4 times a year), and Rapid Assessment when requested by the ISCG and ISWG – Ad-hoc requests.

The main objective of the project is to gather critical data that will provide a comprehensive understanding of the needs and vulnerabilities of crisis-affected persons in the BAY states of north-east Nigeria. This will further inform the Humanitarian Needs Overview (HNO) and Humanitarian Response Plan (HRP) for 2023, ISCG and AAWG for more coordinated humanitarian assistance in areas of the BAY States that are not covered by DTM. expected outcomes

Outcome 1: Enhanced Inter-Sector Coordination Group (ISCG) data collection and dissemination at the household level to fill the information gap on Joint Inter-sectoral Analysis Framework (JIAF) indicators in all accessible locations within the BAY (Borno, Adamawa and Yobe) States.

Outcome 2: Continued monitoring of the humanitarian needs using JIAF indicators integrated into DTM mobility tracking in coordination with the IMWG and ISCG.

Outcome 3. Enhanced Initial Rapid Needs Assessment support for ISCG

Cash Barometer Assessments in Adamawa, Borno and Yobe States

FACT is collaborating with Ground Truth Solutions (GTS) on Cash Barometer and other Cash related assessments in Nigeria. The first assessment was completed in 2021 which was a survey of internally displaced people (IDPs), returnees, and residents affected by crisis in Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe States, Nigeria, who have received cash and voucher assistance (CVA) in the last 12 month. The assessment will be repeated in 2022 and in subsequent years.

Covid-19 - Maiduguri Social Contact Survey Results

FACT In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, FF in close collaboration with Emory University conducted social contact surveys to establish the determinants of how infectious diseases spread through community (host and IDPs) networks and households. This survey was conducted to aid the Borno State COVID-19 task force team to efficiently model and extrapolate the spread of the virus for adequate planning

Nutrition, Morbidity and Mortality Survey – Bama & Magumeri Local Government Areas - 2019

In December 2018, FACT conducted a multi-sectoral needs assessment in hard-to-reach LGAs in Borno for INTERSOS, also that same year, FACT Foundation conducted Knowledge Attitude and Practice (KAP) survey that focused on Food Security, Livelihood, Psychosocial Support (PSS), WASH and GBV in Magumeri, Bama, Ngala, and Dikwa. A corresponding endline SMART and KAP survey was conducted by FACT in August 2019 addressing the same theme and in the same areas

The survey used a two-stage sampling approach as recommended by the SMART methodology. In all, 30 clusters consisting of 21 households each in 2 domains; Central Borno B (Magumeri) and East Borno (Bama) were selected. The sample size for the survey was 630 and 600 households in Magumeri and Bama respectively, targeting an overall population of 5,987. At the end of data collection, a total of 1108 children aged 6 to 59 months were assessed across all LGAs.
